The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger Regarding Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Digital Channels Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
